April 24th, 2010 –

BCDGA club members Andrew Sweeton, John McGinley, and Alan Sweeton held a BCDGA community outreach today by participating as an exhibitor at the Jarrett Nature Center Earth Day Celebration in Hatboro/Horsham, PA. The event was well attended by several hundred people who had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including face-painting, “green” living alternatives (biodegradable “plastic” cups made of corn by-products,) tree-planting, and of course, Disc Golf. Young and old alike were able to try their hand at playing three disc golf holes and receive handouts concerning the sport of Disc Golf, the Tyler State Park Disc Golf Course, and upcoming BCDGA events including the Ladies Only Clinic on May 16th and the Junior Jam event for kids on July 10th.

TSP Disc Golf Course Needs Volunteers

Members and Friends of Tyler State Disc Golf Course –

The BCDGA needs your help. Our Tyler Disc Golf Course “Grounds Keeper” (Willie) has obtained a significant amount of chips through Mike’s Tree Service and the Maintenance Dept at Tyler State Park, which have been deposited around the course (holes 1, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 15 so far). More chips will be deposited in the weeks to come. Todd “W2” Cottrell (part of Willie’s evil Pyramid scheme) has been doing a fine job with the time he has available to spread these chips. However, as mentioned earlier…there are quite a few piles that need to be spread about.

In the past, many of you have asked to help in taking care of the course. Willie has been slow to delegate any of his many duties or work load. He has now lost his “slow to delegate” attitude and is ready to pass the pitch fork and wheel barrow! (Okay…he is really injured and getting old.)

Now is the time to lend a hand and make the Tyler DG Course absolutely spectacular for the GE Am Cup and beyond.
Please contact “Hobie” at 215-982-0657 or to help “W2” spread chips in the appropriate spots. This not a complicated task and will help with erosion, reduce muddy spots, and make for a B – E – A Utiful course. Now is also a great time to sling chips as the temperature is relatively cool.

Any time you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
