Very sorry for the delay, everyone! Thank you to all who participated. Your generous support helped to raise over 2200 lbs of food that was donated to Aiding Our Neighbors in Yardley, PA, and over $1100 was raised through entry fees, purchased mulligans, disc sales, and donation to help Mercer Street Friends in Ewing, NJ. Great job! And thank you!!!! I hope to make 2014’s Ice Bowl even bigger and better.

Johnny Boge Recap

Sat. March 9, 2013

Tyler State Park DGC, Newtown, PA
25 players turned out on a beautiful early March day. A little snow was leftover from the previous days coating but quickly melted away with clear blue skies, bright sunshine and temps in the mid to high 50’s.
The tournament format was 1 round of 27 holes, followed by 1 round of 18 holes. In the Pro division, Joe Mela smoked the field with an opening round 69, duecing 7 of his 1st 9 holes on his way to finishing the day with a 115, beating 2nd place finisher Paul Wharton by 17 strokes and cashing the $60 prize. Congrats to Rick Sassaman, who finished 3rd and cashed for the first time as a Pro, winning $27.
In the AM 1 division Curtis Bugbee shot a 1st round 77, closely followed by Seth Hogan with a 79. In the 2nd round it would be Bugbee just edging out Hogan by a stoke and taking 1st place.
The AM 1 Grandmaster division saw Ray Cuellar from Portland, OR shoot an opening round 81 and would prove to be no match for locals Rich Sassaman and Tim Fry as he cruised to a 20 stroke win to take 1st place.
And in the AM 2 division it was once again very competitive, with Dave Humes carding an opening round 88 and right on his heels was Greg Ferri and Guy Dela Rosa both shooting 89. After the 2nd round both Humes and Ferri would finish tied at 147 and go to Hole 1 for a sudden death playoff. Both players birdied the first playoff hole, but on Hole 2 it was Greg Ferri beating out Humes with a 3 to take 1st place.
Other winners were Paul Whitty (MG2), Marie Fry (FW1) and Adrienne Simonds (FW2).
Special thanks to all the club members who helped out with prizes at the end, your help was much appreciated!
